The Shadowbolts - FiMtG by Kitonin The Shadowbolts - FiMtG by Kitonin
Part of the first set of My Little Pony/Magic: The Gathering cards, I decided to make.

When the Shadowbolts show up, they make you an offer you can't refuse. Unless you're Rainbow Dash, because she does whatever she wants.

Rainbow Dash is best pony btw.

No clause stating when The Shadowbolts leave play you lose control of the creature. Strange.

Also strange since it has the same CMC as mind control... Kind of OP.

Should have something involving the Shadowbolts being removed from the board in some manner at the EOT (so it relates to the show). Also, I like the idea of an act of treason idea, versus full on control, but it needs to feel more black. Maybe, you lose X life, where X is the taken creature's CMC? I dunno, but it doesn't feel as black as it could be.

However, if you keep the card exactly how it is, remind me to draft with you. I'll pick it first every time ;p

I would play this card for 8 mana. Heck, I play Phyrexian Ingester all day long and it's 7 mana. To fix it while keeping the flavour I'd make it red and turn that ability into a threaten effect. So, something like:

3RR - Uncommon
When The Shadowbolts enters the battlefield, gain control of target creature an opponent controls until end of turn. Untap that creature. It gains haste until end of turn.

Wow, talk about gaining control of the creature you want. :o I'll summon this and take control of a Shivan Dragon afterwards. :)

Not a very black effect. Could be black, but not really. Card is also undercosted. Maybe 6BB or so? Also, you don't need a period after Flying, or any list of keywords.

To reword the effect:

"When The Shadowbolts enters the battlefield, gain control of target creature. That creature is a black Zombie in addition to its other colors and types." I'm not sure if I should be using "is a black Zombie" or "becomes a black Zombie". Also, you may want to put a reminder text of "This effect lasts indefinitely." since this is a gain control effect that doesn't say when it ends.

Pretty amazing for black. Easilly a rare or even mythic level. You pay 5 for a 4/4 flier in black and you get an opponents guy, super super aggro. Certainly undercosted for the rarity level.

Thank you. They were the Shadowbolts. Not the Thunderbolts.
I don't know where Thunderbolts came from.

5 for a flying 4/4 with a permanent Mind Control effect? Mind Control costs 5 in blue!
This is way above curve. What on earth are you thinking? Rarity is the best. Google says so.

I'm going to have to disagree there. Dash is indeed best pony ever.

Google will never be cool enough for Rainbow Dash.

At least not until they get full band sets to match the interactive guitar they had the other day.

THEN Google will agree that Rainbow Dash is best.

Fluttershy will destroy all.

Consider Sower of Temptation. Four mana for a 2/2 flier with a Mind Control effect that ended when it left play. That card was rare, and heavily played. For one mana more, you get +2/+2, an effect that doesn't end, Blade protection? Or even consider Mind Control - the same effect as this, except without a 4/4 flying body attached and it ended when you lost the Aura. Point being, this is overpowered (and off-colour besides).

How about making it a rare 3/3, adding "this effect ends when Shadowbolts leaves the battlefield" and letting them control only creatures with a power lower than their own? You can't steal high-power creatures but you still have a black 3/3 flying for four mana plus something small from your enemy, which could be anything from a Wall of Stone to Circu, Dimir Lobotomist.

I still consider that to be a bit much but then again I haven't touched any new set since Shards of Alara because I feel modern cards are hugely overpowered. So I guess I'll err on the side of power.

Oh, and the card should be Creature - Pegasus Illusion. After all, that's what they are.
